Responsibilities

MaxLinear is looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join our high-performing Finance team. In this role you will focus on the following:

  • Collaborate with accounting and finance to implement processes and procedures to maintain an effective internal control environment, ensuring all tax records are prepared accurately and timely
  • Oversee accounting for all income taxes (ASC 740) including review and preparation of the consolidated income tax provision (annual and quarterly) and all related assumptions, analyses, journal entries, calculations, and footnote disclosures
  • Assist the VP of Tax in communicating tax matters to executive leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners
  • Prepare Worldwide cash tax forecast
  • Preparation of workpapers and review of the U.S. consolidated income tax return, state income tax returns, and estimated tax payments, including related analyses and support
  • Review and manage U.S. and international tax compliance, which is prepared by external tax service providers
  • Manage and oversee audits of federal, state, and foreign income tax, as well as assist with sales tax and local filings
  • Manage tax-related expenses and relationships with external and internal partners and provide support to finance and accounting on non-income tax matters including personal property tax, sales taxes, business license renewals, and annual reports
  • Management and support transfer pricing strategy and documentation and uncertain tax positions (ASC 740-1)
  • Review and analyze intercompany agreements and update as necessary
  • Review and analyze Transfer Pricing calculations prepared by internal and external teams
  • Manage and coordinate R&D Tax Credit annual documentation
  • Conduct tax research and perform projects to minimize tax burden and reduce the Company’s effective tax rate and cash taxes
  • Recommend and adopt new tax software and implement processing changes
  • Assist with SOX audit testing and financial statement audit requests

Qualifications

  • Experience with Big 4 (or equivalent) or large corporate tax department of a multi-national company
  • Solid experience preparing and reviewing U.S. and foreign income tax provisions, including SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Up to date with changing tax legislation, SEC Regulations, and corporate accounting changes, practices, and global developments
  • Hands-on experience with ASC 740 modeling and tax accounting software tools
  • Effective oral and written communication in dealing with regulatory agencies, financial auditors, various domestic and foreign tax authorities, attorneys, support peers and all levels of corporate management
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax personnel
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions and expectations
  • Strong time management skills and able to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, Microsoft Dynamics (D365), a plus
  • CPA and/or MBT (Masters in Business Taxation) preferred
  • Bachelors + 11 years of experience, or Masters + 9 years of experience

Compensation and Benefits

MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.

 

MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of:  $125,600 to $178,080 Annually

The actual starting base salary will be determined by the match to certain role-related criteria such as educational degree(s) or equivalent, relevant work experience, skillset needed for the role, and geographic location; this is not an all-inclusive list as some roles may require unique skills or experience.
