Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking a Director of Module Interoperability Testing to join our team. In this role, you will focus on the following:

  • Design and set up a comprehensive optical module interoperability testing lab in SJ to characterize MXL DSP for high-speed datacenter applications
  • Specify test equipment, switch interfaces, optical modules and methodologies to test MXL DSPs interoperating in Ethernet, Infinband, PCiE, and other datacenter protocols
  • Work with module and hyperscale customers to understand the ongoing evolution of datacenter architectures for AI workloads, along with the evolution of interoperability testing methods
  • Adapt MxL IoP test capabilities with latest IEEE/OIF and MSA testing methodologies
  • Mentor test and verification team on testing methodologies and process including black-box and white-box testing, overstress testing, testing to failure, and discovery of design limits
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Systems, SQA and Automation to design rigorous testing methods, reports, and documentation

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in datacenter interoperability testing required
  • Solid experience leading execution of complex technical projects from concept to volume production in the data-center optics industry
  • Subject matter expertise in testing optical components, optical system design and characterization, optical transceiver design
  • Experience in test development, automation, and building a lab highly desirable
  • Experience building and leading small teams
  • Knowledge of relevant high speed networking standards such as Ethernet, Infiniband, and PCIe, and PAM-4 analog and digital signal processing, along with optical MSA specifications
  • Self-motivated, effective communication skills, and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership, change management, and project management skills
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related + 13 years of experience, or MS + 11 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 8 years of experience

Compensation and Benefits

MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.

 

MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of:  $159,200 to $247,135 Annually

The actual starting base salary will be determined by the match to certain role-related criteria such as educational degree(s) or equivalent, relevant work experience, skillset needed for the role, and geographic location; this is not an all-inclusive list as some roles may require unique skills or experience.
